“Photography becomes all the more enjoyable when you can share the pictures with others.”
photokina's latest umbrella brand of photokina "meet the communities at photokina" for the first time links real and virtual communities in an area larger than 1,500 m² in the middle of Hall 5.1.
Social networks, photo festivals, associations and publishing houses offer the photokina visitor a unique platform with various highlights on and next to the large stage.
Networking and communication with modern end devices, and the latest generation cameras are the focus of this modern and networked space.
The "meet the communities" area is divided into the sections Community, Festivals, Publishers and Associations as well as into various partner spaces over the entire "meet the communities" area.
One highlight follows hot on the heels of the next at photokina's new "Manfrotto Center Stage". In the center of the "meet the communities" area exciting activities can be found throughout the day, tailored to you as a photokina visitor.
Workshops, lectures, exciting photo and video reports from all over the world, web features, community subjects, live shoots and much more…for the first time on one central stage!
Do you want to stay up to date with what's happening, not miss a thing or even help determining the programme? Become a FAN and keep current.
In the Communities section, social networks, photo communities and video portals are presented.
Together the different communities create a rich and exciting programme in all fields of interest. In addition, they form the ideal meeting point at photokina for members and interested parties.
In this segment of the "meet the communities" area you will primarily come across German festivals and associations who engage in the subject of photography.
These festivals, associations and publishing houses, offer the photokina visitor exciting insights and fascinating results of their work.
At photokina the pioneers can be found in the PIONEERS cube, where they will report on their experiences as pioneers and about the products they have discovered during the challenges.
For the first time Lomographers are presenting the LomoWorldMap, a megalomaniac
futuristic project, endeavouring to gather and portrait the billions of Lomographs on earth on one gigantic LomoWorldMap.
We are presenting the project with an exhibition of about 50000 pictures and invite you at the same time to help create the first stage of the LomoWorldMap:

We are giving away a thousand cameras for a thousand of innovative ideas, with which we will build up the Lomographic foto archive Germany by the year 2012.
If you have an inspirational idea, then two seconds later a new camera is yours.
Now all you have to do is to photograph like crazy so that the complete artwork LomoWorldMap Germany can shine at photokina in all its glory.
Everyone is invited to take part - so join the wave of inspiration and pick up your lomography camera between Halls 4 and 5!
