World of 3D at photokina powered by ScanBull
Experience the future of 3D and 360° photography close-up.
In the “World of 3D at photokina”, powered by ScanBull, you can experience the fascination of the third dimension of photography and film live. Digital technology makes it possible for real objects to optically merge with realistic 3D environments. Allow yourself to be animated in 3D and immersed into a realistic moment of everyday life in the 3D café “The Drunken Photographer”. Or visit the 3D cinema, by ‘entering’ a film and influencing the ‘action’ yourself – the feeling of reality this produces will take your breath away.
Under the motto “Yes I Scan”, visitors of the special exhibition can have objects they bring along scanned in. As a part of the 360° 3D scanning competition, the most interesting 3D scan models will be selected. The winner will receive a 3D ScanBook QuickCap Professional and can take part in a workshop with all the other winners at the ScanBill training center.

photokina 2010 –
The IMAGO 1:1 team introduces direct positive paper.
Development and production of this paper was rekindled specifically for the walk-in camera IMAGO 1:1, which was a highlight at photokina 2008.
A lot has happened since the camera was first presented to the public in 2008. At that year's photokina Susanna Kraus, the daughter of the constructor of IMAGO 1:1 Werner Kraus, met Dai Jones, former director of ILFORD. Thanks to that meeting and their further cooperation the production of direct positive paper, which had previously been discontinued, was revived.
At photokina 2010 visitors will be able to experiment with this new silver halide paper and see its results immediately by testing it on-site with various cameras such as pinhole cameras, mid-range cameras and large format camera –These visitor experiments will fill the outer walls of the dark room during the duration of the fair. Parts of the original IMAGO 1:1 camera will be on display as well as photographs taken with the camera.
The event will be organised by the group “ANALOGGANG” based around photographer and lecturer Annegret Kohlmayer, and of course Susanna Kraus and a representative of HARMAN Technology will be on site as well to answer visitors’ questions.
The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) will present the best photo and imaging products of the year from 40 different categories at photokina 2010. In cooperation with koelnmesse, TIPA invites fair visitors to linger in the TIPA lounge located in the passageway between Halls 3 and 11 and between the South Entrance and the Piazza. The world’s leading association of international photo magazines from 5 continents and 15 countries will give an elaborate multimedia presentation on the product highlights of 2010 including digital SLR, compact cameras, lenses, printers and extensive accessories.
Each year TIPA members vote for the best photo and imaging products that have been launched on the market during the previous 12 months. The association is widely known by the general public for its annual awards which are accompanied by its famous blue logo conferring international recognition and prestige. Taking innovation, ergonomics, design, ease-of-use, efficiency, price/performance ratio, as well as other criteria into account, TIPA editors have been presenting the TIPA awards to imaging products in various categories since 1991 in order to help photo enthusiasts and professionals make the best purchasing decisions.
