Under the umbrella brand photo.Cologne the Internationale Photoszene Köln e.V. with the IPK festival and Koelnmesse GmbH with the Visual Gallery at photokina and the event “photokina: Koeln fotografiert!” all activities are bundled in September to further develop and expand Cologne's reputation as the premiere city of photography.

For the 5th time, the Visual Gallery will be presenting highlights by world-renowned photographers and projects by award-winning up-and-coming artists at photokina 2010.
As a central element of the creative meeting point “from professionals for professionals”, the exhibition covers everything from photo documentation to photo design and from photojournalism to photographic art.

Koeln fotografiert - Cologne takes photographs

Enthusiasm about photography will be in the air all over Cologne in the photokina month of September. The platform “photokina: köln fotografiert!” (photokina: Cologne takes photographs!) was established to carry the topic of photography far beyond the fairgrounds and into the city and region. The event will be under the patronage of Cologne’s mayor Jürgen Roters.
In 2010, the year of photokina’s sixtieth anniversary, photography fans and passionate amateur photographers are being invited for the second time to get active with their cameras and explore the possibilities of photography.

Among lots of other events, 111 workshops are planned – a number with a special significance in Cologne – with professionals who will point the way to better photography in the most attractive and appealing locations in Cologne!

With the new IPK festival branding, the Internationale Photoszene Köln e.V 2010 is heading for a new future and is calling on all photographers, museums, galleries, cultural institutes, companies and associations to become involved and register for this event. Approximately 90 selected participants are expected to be represented at the Internationale Photoszene Köln.
